“In The Name of God, The Beneficent, The Merciful”

Lady Khadijah (A)

The first and most beloved wife of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S), who was also the mother of their children, was Khadijah bint Khwild. While she was alive, the Holy Prophet PBUH did not have any other wives. She was the only Meccan wife of the Messenger of God. Meaning, the wife who was with the Prophet Muhammad (S) during his thirteen-year prophethood stay in Mecca and endured the hardships of the prophethood mission in Mecca with the Messenger of God. The most difficult period of the prophethood mission of the Prophet of God was the thirteen years that the Holy Prophet had raised the monotheism flag against the Quraysh polytheists in the city of Mecca. Prophet Muhammad (S) endured all kinds of persecutions and threats, and his faithful wife during this period was Lady Khadijah (A), who did not spare her life and property in defending the mission of the Prophet of God.

In some historical sources, some opponents have said that Lady Khadijah (A) was a widow and had married before the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in order to preserve the virtue of being a virgin for Aisha (another wife) while historical research shows the opposite.

However, being a virgin or a widow is not in itself a virtue for anyone, because in a hadith narrated by both Shia and Sunni scholars from the Messenger of God, Lady Khadijah is considered as one of the four perfect women of the world, and this is a true virtue.

The Messenger of God, Prophet Muhammad (S) said, “From the women of the world, four women are perfect. Maryam Ibn Imran (Lady Mary, mother of Jesus (A)), Asia Bint Muzahim (Fer’on’s wife), Khadijah Bint Khwild, and Fatima (the only child of Prophet Muhammad ‌(s)”

May God’s blessings be upon all of them
