Prophet Muhammad (S) in the Bible

Deuteronomy – Chapter 18- 15-22

15 Yahweh your God will raise up to you a prophet from among you, of your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him.

16 This is according to all that you desired of Yahweh your God in Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, “Let me not hear again Yahweh my God’s voice, neither let me see this great fire anymore, that I not die.”

17 Yahweh said to me, “They have well said that which they have spoken.

18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brothers, like you. I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.

19 It shall happen, that whoever will not listen to my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

20 But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.”

21 You may say in your heart, “How shall we know the word which Yahweh has not spoken?” 22 When a prophet speaks in Yahweh’s name, if the thing doesn’t follow, nor happen, that is the thing which Yahweh has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You shall not be afraid of him.

In these verses, Prophet Moses (PBUH) quotes from God to the people of Israel that God will send a prophet from the brothers of Israel to them who will be like Prophet Moses (A). The sign of the truth of his prophecy is that he announces unseen events in the future and these events will come true! (So, if he is not successful, he should not be obeyed, but should be killed).

The brothers of the children of Israel are the children of Ishmael! It is clear that here all the children of Israel were addressed by Prophet Moses (A). So, the next prophet is from the people of the brotherhood of the children of Israel. The next prophet can only be from the children of Israel if some of the children of Israel were addressed by Prophet Moses (A) which was not the case here.

The Qur’an and the hadiths of the Prophet are full of announcements of unseen events about the future that has taken place, including the prophecy of the Roman empire’s victory over the Persian empire at the beginning of Surah Ar-Rum and others. Another point in this phrase is that this prophet is from the brother of the children of Israel, and he follows the invitation among them! This is exactly what happened because the Prophet Muhammad (S) was a descendant of Prophet Ishmael (PBUH) and one of the main points of his invitation was in Medina, where several Jewish centers were present.

The Prophet Muhammad (S) has many similarities with the Prophet Moses (A) such as:

1-  Both Prophets introduced a religious law for human actions (many Prophets did not bring the religious laws and followed the previous prophet)

2- Both prophets were commanding war.

3- Both are forced to emigrate from their homeland for a long time.

4- Both of them have a minister or helper from their relatives (Imam Ali (A) for Prophet Muhammad (S) and Prophet Aaron (A) for Prophet Moses (A), peace be upon them).

5- Both of them find many followers in their time (unlike many prophets) and came to the rule of their people.

6- Both of them faced apostates and rebellions in their time (Prophet Moses with calf worshipers and Prophet Muhammad (S) With the false Muslims and the hypocrites who tried to change the true path after him).

7- Both prophets, although they came to power and gained a relative victory, their people went astray after them.

8- Both prophets achieved political victories very fast and unexpected!

Prophet Moses (A) broke the greatness and honor of Pharaoh (Fer’on) and caused the Pharaohs’ army to be destroyed. The Prophet of Islam also established a powerful government in his time and separated Yemen from Sassanid Persia. Prophet Muhammad (S) established such a powerful government within a few years.

According to the present Bible, a prophet will emerge from among the brotherly people of the children of Israel (the children of Ishmael), who is like Prophet Moses (A) and announce the unseen future, and the Jews must follow him. All these characteristics apply to Prophet Mohammad (S).

All praise is to God to the extent that He deserves it.
