Big Bang in the Holy Quran

“Their messengers said, “Is there any doubt about God, Bloomer of the heavens and the earth? He calls you to forgive you of your sins, and to defer you until a stated term.” They said, “You are only humans like us; you want to turn us away from what our ancestors worshiped; so, bring us a clear proof”[1] (Ibrahim:10).

“Fitr” in the above verse in Arabic literally means to blossom, and “Infitar” in Arabic means to blossom like a flower that blooms from the bud.

God is the “Fatir”[2] (bloomer) of the heavens and the earth (as stated in the Quran), or in other words, the flourisher of the heavens and the earth. This phrase can refer to the Big Bang theory, which defines the origin and evolution of our universe. 12-14 billion years ago, the visible universe was only a few millimeters across. It expanded from this hot dense state into the vast cosmos we currently live in.

Of course, there are other verses in the Holy Quran that are similar to this great explosion, such as the following verse:  “Do the disbelievers not see that the heavens and the earth were one mass, and We tore them apart? And We made from water every living thing. Will they not believe?

Meaning that the heavens and the earth were a mass that we opened them. An explosion in which such delicate arrangements are used that physicists say its precision is ten to the power of -120. This accuracy and delicacy are needed for the creation of objects, otherwise, objects could not have been formed.  Can you even imagine a number one with 120 zeros behind the decimal place? Can such an order be accidental and unreasonable and leave room for doubt?
