What is the meaning of Eternity?

“What is the meaning of Eternity?”

Eternity is not a very long time because no matter how much we go back or forward in time, it still means time.

Eternity means without beginning and without ending.

Time itself is one of the dimensions of matter since time is the amount of motion of matter. Time is dependent on matter, so if there is no matter, there would not be time. If we assume whole universe as a package, can we consider before and after for it?

For the beginning of the universe, when there is no time and no matter, we cannot determine first or last. So, we cannot determine the time for the whole world ! This world is somehow eternal. In the case of God Almighty, time cannot be taken! He is the creator of time and space.

Eternal means, a level above time. Not too a time that is far away!

Eternity surrounds all pieces of time. All material beings are temporal, meaning the past and the future are absent for them, and they present at the present moment.

Time is passing to the creatures that are inside it.

All the pieces of time are present for God Almighty. For example, there is an ant that walks on the colors of the carpet and one after the other, the colors are seen for it, but when we look from above, we see all the colors together.

Since we are in time, the past and the future are as important to us as that ant in above example. All pieces of time are present before God Almighty.

“In the sight of your Lord is not night and day.  Glory be to God when morning and night are passing to you”.

God is glorified that time passes for him. Because He is eternal and infinite and creator or time and space. Time is surrounded by eternity.

When you go beyond the level of matter, there is neither time nor place, there is eternity. Eternity is a super-material order, it has neither time limit nor place limit, so it is infinite. (Both in terms of time and place)

Amir Al-Mu’minin Ali (A) said: “The one who describes God has limited him, the one who limits him has numbered him, and the one who has numbered him has nullified his eternity”.

He is the one who is unique. Whatever definition we give, we limit God. When people describe God, they are limiting him, and God is pure from what they describe. (So, the restriction is contrary to eternity.)

Amir Al-Mu’minin Ali (A) said: “There is no beginning for God’ s eternity. (Nahj al-Balaghah)

Any creature which is first, it has a beginning! But God Almighty does not have beginning, that is, there is no limit. While He is without beginning, He is also without ending. meaning God has no end. “He is the first and He is the Last”. In all times He is First, and He is Last.

Key Quranic verse. “There is nothing like Him”. Al-Shura 11

Eternity is one thing, which are above time, if it refers to the first, we call it origin, if it refers to the last, we call it resurrection.

“Existence has filled everything that we see and do not see”.

 “There is One and nothing except Him”.
